Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday has paid tribute to its founder and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on his 4th death anniversary.
General Secretary PDP, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura described the PDP founder as a far sighted political leader and an astute administrator who, during his two tenures as Chief Minister, remained focussed on securing development and bettering the lot of people of J&K.
The PDP General Secretary recalled PDP founder’s amicable demeanour and enormous courage to take on varied challenges during his six and a half decade long political career.
Hanjura said that even when Mufti sahib was 79-year-old, his utmost priority was his people. “In the present world when corrupt policies have become a permanent tag of several political parties in India, Mufti Sahib was the person who throughout his life maintained the simple living and high thinking philosophy as a guiding principle. In spite of being a political figure of such a great stature in entire India, one would be surprised to know that only wealth he has left behind are his principles of selflessness.
Hanjura said that the people of this land would never forget how this man ended the decades old turbulence in Valley when PDP formed the government for the first time after 2002 polls.
Within the State, Mufti Sahib’s political focus had been on connecting communities and regions. His emphasis on improving trust levels between two main regions of Kashmir and Jammu has remained the driving force for his party political engagement.
Responding to the people’s yearning for peace with dignity, Mufti Sahib, after assuming charge as the Chief Minister of J&K in 2002, had crusaded the “Healing Touch” policy to repair the people’s hurt psyche, salvage their bruised dignity, rekindle a new hope in their hearts and motivate them to mould their destiny through a participatory political process. May his soul rest in peace.
