Srinagar: Thirteen people have been tested positive for H1N1 virus in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura taking toll of infected persons’ to 109, an official of the institute said on Saturday.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) SKIMS, Kulsoom Bhat, said in a statement issued to GNS, said no fresh death occurred today and six patients admitted at SKIMS isolation ward have been discharged as well.
“At present, seven patients positive for H1N1 are admitted, out of which only one is on ventilator,” she said.
The virus has already claimed four lives in the Valley, officials had said.
She said apart from 4000 N95 masks received yesterday, patients are also informed that Tamiflu is also now available at SKIMS. “Today samples for H1N1 were taken from 50 patients out of 283 patients with respiratory symptoms seen at the Special OPD at attendant Sarai at SKIMS,” the PRO SKIMS said.
She appealed people to strictly avoid social gatherings, frequently wash hands and wear masks and advised them not to unnecessarily visit hospitals and take precautionary measures as advised by experts.
“General public is informed that Special OPD at attendant Sarai SKIMS will remain functional on Sunday, 22/2/2015 from 10.00 A.M to 4.00 P.M,” the PRO said. (GNS)
