3 teenagers killed in 2010 unrest remembered

Islamabad: To commemorate the death anniversary of three youngsters allegedly killed by a police officer in Anchidora area locals pay glorious tribute to these slain youth and offered special prayers for them in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Wednesday.

Three teenagers, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khanday, Shujat-ul-Islam and Imitiyaz Ahmad Itoo according witnesses were killed in cold blood by a police officer in the compound of a house in Anchidora area during 2010 unrest.

Besides Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists, a number of people from different localities visited graveyard and the houses of these slain youth and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

Some of the protesters carried banners seeking punishment to the killers of the innocent youth changed pro-freedom slogans. Fateha Khwani was held in memory of these three teenagers while large contingent of police and Para-military troopers were deployed in the area to thwart any protest, however, ‘the situation remained peaceful,” police official said.
