Court quashes detention of south Kashmir student

Srinagar: A Court Monday quashed the detention of a South Kashmir student under Public Safety Act and directed police to release him.

Police had arrested a student Sehar Ahmed Makroo son of Muhammad Akram from Arwani Bijbehara on charges of stone-pelting. He had been booked under an FIR vide number 349/2015 under sections 148, 149, 336, 427 RPC while district administration had slapped Public Safety Act (DMA/PSA/3/16) on him after which he was shifted to Central Jail Srinagar.

The court of Justice Ali Muhammad Magray quashed his detention under PSA and directed police to release him. Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak pleaded the case of the detained student. (CNS)
