CRPF ASI injured in Kulgam grenade attack; suspect held

Srinagar: A paramilitary central reserve police force (CRPF) officer was injured in a grenade blast at Kulgam district of south Kashmir Saturday late afternoon while suspected grenade hurler was held on the spot.

Police said that a grenade was lobbed by militants on a joint naka party of police and CRPF at Laroo in Kulgam district near Grid Station. The grenade exploded with a bang and a CRPF ASI sustained minor splinter injuries. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Soon after the attack, forces said they managed to nab a person suspected to be grenade hurler. He was thrashed and taken into custody for interrogation, sources added. The security was tightened in the area after the attack.(GNS)
