Day 60: One killed, two critical as protests continue to rock Kashmir

Srinagar: While south Kashmir continues to remain on the boil even on the 60th of the uprising that broke out since July 8, massive protests today broke out in Seer Hamdan village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag taking the total death toll to 75.

The 20-year old deceased was identified as Naseer Ahmad, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat.

During the protests over 50 people got injured in the clashes with forces as people were protesting against the high-handedness of the forces who residents said had barged into their homes and thrashed inmates.

A woman, identified as Jameela, wife of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, was critically injured in the forces’ action in which over 50 others were injured. Jameela has been hit on her head and has been shifted to Srinagar hospital.

Meanwhile, a youth was injured during clashes with government forces in Papchan area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The injured youth was referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment. (PTK)
