Srinagar: Army Monday said that it killed 18 militants including 14 commander of Jaish-e-Muhammad in 21 days, the outfit that owned the lethal Lehtpora Pulwama attack.
This was revealed by Army’s 15 Core Commander Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon in a joint press conference that was also addressed by IGP CRPF Zulifkar Hasan and IGP Kashmir SP Pani.
“Since Lethpora attack, we are after JeM militants and in 21 days eliminated 18 militants including 14 commanders from Jaish-e-Muhammad. Out of these 18 militants, 10 were locals and 8 from Pakistan,” Commander Dhillon said adding that 2 each slain militants were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujhadeen.
He said that in a signification operation at Pinglish they managed to kill the main conspirator Mudasir Ahmed Khan of Midora Tral village. “Besides Mudasir another JeM militant Khalid from Pakistan was also killed. In three weeks time, we have managed to eliminate top commander of Jaish. Ever since Lethpora attack, we are after the militants of Jaish,” he said adding that operation against JeM will continue in Kashmir.
While divulging information about the slain commander Mudasir Ahmed, IGP Pani said that he was an active recruiter from past one year. He added that his killing is a major setback to Jaish.
IGP SP Pani said that recruitment of militants has come down drastically.
In response to a question, IGP CRPF Zulifkar Hasan said that the killing of Mudasir should not be taken as an avenge to Lethpora attack.
KJS Dhillon denied the reports that people are facing hardships due to convoy movement. “It takes only 2 to 4 minutes for a convoy to pass. People have to understand and cooperate with security forces,” he said and denied the reports that soldiers are harassing commuters during convoy movement.
While responding to a question, IGP Pani said those who participate in funeral processions are miscreants. (CNS)
