Srinagar: Sessions Judge Kulgam Zubair Ahmad Raza Wednesday awarded life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000 to a former gunman for murdering a man.
The court after hearing special public prosecutor Aeraz Mushtaq appearing for the State and observed that the crime committed by the accused is heinious in nature and therefore the accused Abdul Hameed Teeli son of Muhammad Ramzan Teeli of Khokherhama Kulgam is awarded life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000.
As per the FIR vide number 18/2010 under section 452, 307, 302 RPC and 7/25 Arms Act lodged at Damhal Hanjipora, two accused namely Hamid Teeli and Rafiq Wani had fired upon one Nazir Ahmed Wagay s/o Sanaullah Wagay of Bhagbal indiscriminately while he was at his home on 22 February 2002.
One of the accused Rafiq Wani according to CNS was killed in an encounter with Indian troopers while during the trial prosecution successfully lead evidence in support of their case as some witnesses deposed clearly that it was the accused (Hamid Teeli) who directly fired upon the deceased when he was taking meals in his kitchen with his family.
