Higher reaches experience first snowfall, rains lash plains in Kashmir

Srinagar: The higher reaches of Valley including Gulmarg and other tourist destinations experienced a first snowfall of the season, ending the several months long dry spell in Kashmir valley.

The snowfall has also resulted in the blockade of Bandipora-Gurez road in north Kashmir.

Besides, a heavy rainfall also lashed the plains of the Valley, forcing people to put up woolen wear.

Due to the rains since Thursday evening, most of the roads in Srinagar got inundated in Srinagar thereby leaving the pedestrians to suffer.

The heating appliances though out on the markets for sale but several hour long power break down has started irritating people in valley as rains were lashed the plains here since Thursday evening.

Soon after the rains accompanied by strong winds lashed Valley, power supply in most parts of the Valley was immediately snapped even in Srinagar plunging city centre areas into darkness for hours.

As already reported, Director Meteorological (MeT) department, Sonam Lotus had told KNS that weather in the Valley will remain dry till November 03.

He had predicted heavy rains in plains and snowfall in upper reaches. (KNS)
