Kupwara family accuse Sarpach of ‘killing’ their son

Srinagar: A family in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Wednesday accused a local Sarpanch of “murdering” their son who has allegedly died under mysterious circumstances.

Qayoom Khan son of Dilawar Khan of Hyhama, Kupwara, has allegedly died suspiciously on Tuesday.

Khan’s wife, Naseema told KNS that he husband was called by local Sarpanch Bashir Ahmad Khan son of Ab Majeed Khan to his home.

“He went to his home, but did not come back,” Naseema said.

Khan’s brother, Muhammad Ashraf Khan said that they were called by a person from some unknown number, who informed them Khan was being treated in Kupwara hospital.

“When we reached there was no one there. We tried to call the number, but it was switched off,” he said.

He said that in the morning Qayoom’s corpse reached home and his “body had visible injury marks”.

“Those who brought his body said that he was being treated in SKIMS, Soura,” he said.

SSP Kupwara, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat told KNS that FIR/ 174 has been registered into the case and inquest proceedings have been started. (KNS)
