Loanee in Jail under PSA, Bank officials demand installments from grandmother

Srinagar: A family from Batamaloo area of Srinagar city Wednesday alleged that Jammu Kashmir Bank officials have been harassing them demanding installments for the loan obtained by one of their family members who according to them has been languishing in Kot Balwal Jail under draconian Public Safety Act from past three months.

“My 22 years old grandson Imtiyaz Ahmed Sheikh had secured business loan from Jammu Kashmir Bank. He was paying installments in time, but authorities arrested him on charges of stone-pelting and lodged him in Kot Balwal Jail Jammu under PSA. He was arrested on 1st August and since then he couldn’t pay the bank installment,” the grandmother of incarcerated youth who hails from Firdous Abad Batamaloo told news agency CNS.

She said that Imtiyaz was the sole bread earner for the family. “He is orphan and languishing in Jail. The Bank officials didn’t understand this and they harass us on daily basis. I appeal Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to release my grandson and save us from distress,” he said. (CNS)
