Meet the Doctor behind 25 Retinal Surgeries in Kashmir hospitals

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) in a simple function at GMC Srinagar on 9th August 2016 felicitated Dr. Mahesh P Shanmugam Head, Vitreo-Retinal Services and Ocular Oncology Services, Sankara Eye Hospital, Bangalore for his remarkable contribution in conducting 25 Retinal Surgeries of the injured patients at Department of Opthalmology, SMHS Hospital.

DAK as a gratitude gesture felicitated to acknowledge his immense contribution towards helping the needy patients.

President DAK Dr G M Mir stated that in this hour of grief and sorrow we made the felicitation simple but it was necessary so to recognise and appreciate the efforts of such a renowned Doctor.

He also appreciated the efforts of Principal GMC, Department of Opthomology SMHS, HOD Opthomology and NGOs namely Borderless World Foundation (BWF) and Center for Research and Development Policy (CRDP).

The NGOs did a splendid job by being facilitators in facilitating these advanced Opthomological surgeries at SMHS Hospital.

DAK also appreciated and values the efforts of Dr Pir GN Suhail, Director CRDP along with others who played a pivotal role in bringing the doctors from outside state so to treat the critical Opthomological Patients.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Mahesh P Shanmugam is Hon. Prof of Ophthalmology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin NT Hong Kong & Shantou University, Shantoy and has over 90 publications in national and international retina vitreous journals to his credit.
