Handwara: Government Forces and suspected militants exchanged fire during the wee hours in Hanzishart Langate area of North Kashmir’s Handwara town.
Defense sources told news agency CNS that after the inputs of the presence of militants in the area, Army party from 30 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group cordoned off the area resulting in the encounter. “The firing between the government forces and the militants started at 3 on Monday morning. The intermittent firing continued for 3 hours. The militants who stopped firing at 6 didn’t retaliate,” sources said.
They added that adjoining areas have been cordoned off too and massive search operation has been launched to flush out the militants. Unconfirmed reports said that militants manage to escape from the spot. (CNS)
