Srinagar: Paying glowing tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz and all the ‘martyrs’ of 2008 uprising on their eighth martyrdom anniversary, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said Kashmiris had been fighting for the fulfillment of their basic right of self-determination since 1931.
He said the resistance movement after going through different stages was at a sensitive and crucial phase of history that calls for showing steadfastness and unity.
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz paid tributes to the martyrs of summer uprisings of 2008, 2010 and 2016 and all the martyrs Kashmir’s resistance movement, the Mirwaiz said the ongoing resistance movement.
Stressing that the biggest tributes that people could pay to the martyrs of Kashmir was to exhibit unity, steadfastness and resolve to take their struggle for just rights forward despite hardships, he appealed the freedom-loving people of Kashmir to follow the programmes given by the unified resistance leadership in letter and spirit and make their bond with the resistance movement stronger to repay the martyrs for their contributions.
On the martyrdom anniversary of the Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, the Chairman appealed people to head toward Martyrs Graveyard at Eidgah on Thursday, and pay tributes to Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Shaheed-e-Millat, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, and all martyrs of Kashmir and resolve to take the mission of the martyrs forward.
He warned the government of avoiding anti-people tactics of cracking a whip on the unarmed and innocent children and youth of Kashmir. (PTK)
