Srinagar: The management of Pick-n-Choose Supermarket on Sunday refuted the news items regarding the alleged cheating of customers at their store.
The management of the store said that Department of Legal Metrology had visited the shop for routine inspection and detected ‘minor violations’ with regard to the pasting of stickers. They said that this practice is widely prevalent across the country. The management is cooperating with the authorities in this regard, the management said in a press release.
“The allegations that MRP was increased by pasting new stickers and thus cheating consumers by overcharging are baseless, motivated and aimed at damaging the reputation and credibility of our business establishment. As a matter of fact, for a number of products the stickers pasted are of lower prices than the printed MRP for the benefit of our esteemed customers, the statement added.
“It also needs to be mentioned that our store has acquired the position of being the leading store of the Valley on the basis of providing the widest variety of quality products at fair and competitive prices. The trust our esteemed customers have always reposed in us has been earned only because of this fact and no amount of mischievous propaganda can break this faith,” the statement read.
The management said that legal action seeking damages is being initiated against the persons/agencies responsible for having indulged in misrepresentation of facts, sensationalizing the event with concoction and mixing of facts which act on their part is loaded with malice and prejudice as well.
