Rains lash several parts of Kashmir, weather continue to remain erratic for next two days

Srinagar: Amid forecast for erratic weather this week, parts of Kashmir Valley including Gulmarg received rainfall, officials said on Wednesday.

A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 12.6°C against 13.4°C on the previous night. The temperature was 2.9°C above normal for this time of the season in the summer capital of J&K where traces of rain was recorded in last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 10.8°C against previous night’s 11.2°C and it was above normal by 2.7°C in the gateway town of Kashmir, the official said. It received 3.2mm of the rain during the time, he said.

“Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain/thunder (is expected) in Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours,” the official said.

Regarding the forecast for next two days, he said, “Scattered to fairly widespread light rain/thundershowers are expected in J&K.” (PTK)
