South Kashmir’s wanted crowd puller, Barkati arrested

Srinagar: South Kashmir’s one of the prominent face of the prevailing protests and pro-Aazadi rally Sarjan Barkati was today arrested near Wanpoh in Anantnag.

Barkati had rose to the fame for his unique way of sloganeering that would pull crowd in thousands.

He was very active in Kulgam and Shopian districts throughout the current uprising and has reportedly participated and addressed in some 177 rallies. By introducing unique rhythmic resistance slogans, which became a new genre of resistance folk, Barkati became a known face.

Police had announced reward money for his arrest and was declared a proclaimed offender. His house was sealed on Thursday last and a notice was pasted on the door of his residential house. (PTK)
