Two arrested involved in torching of schools, says police

Srinagar: Budgam police on Thursday said that it apprehended two persons involved in the torching of two school buildings in Budgam district.

In a statements issued to KNS, police said that it arrested two persons identified as Farooq Ahmad Malik @ Buda, son of Ali Mohammad Malik and Bilal Ahmad Malik @ Durani, son of Ab Karim Malik both residents of Shunglipora.

Police said that both the persons confessed their guilt.

They said that further course of action as warranted under law is underway.

Police said that on 27-10-2016, building of Govt. Middle School Habbar Lassipora was set ablaze by some unknown miscreants as a result of which the same got damaged and in this regard case FIR No:68/2016 u/s 436 RPC was registered in P/S Khag.

“Subsequently, one more private educational institution namely Hanfia Educational Institute Shunglipora Habbar was ransacked and damaged by miscreants and to this effect a case FIR No:69/2016 u/s 148, 427, 451, 506 RPC PPD Act was registered in P/S Khag,” they said.

They further said that in order to ensure a speedy and effective investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, under the supervision of SDPO Magam.

“During the course of investigation, a number of suspects were brought to the Police Station for questioning thereby succeeded in arresting the two persons involved in the acts,” police said. (KNS)
