Srinagar: Ending all speculations, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday extended winter vacations upto higher secondary level till 28 February.
In a statement issued to GNS, the Director Education Kashmir, Showkat Ahmad Baig, said: “In view of inclement weather all Government as well as private educational Institutions upto Higher Secondary level shall remain closed upto February 28, 2015. These schools shall now reopen on Monday, the March 2, 2015.”
The schools shall also remain close in Winter Zone of Jammu, he said.
Since the outbreak of swine flu in Kashmir valley, many people and organizations including medicos have been demanding closure of schools and other educational institutions in the valley citing spreading of H1N1 virus.
However, the government has not cited swine as a reason for the extension in vacations. (GNS)
