Srinagar: Kashmir Road Safety Foundation (KRSF) in collaboration with ARTO Board of Inspection Srinagar organised a special on road drive against the use of illegal registration number plates on the Vehicle at Bemina Road near RTO Office Srinagar.
The Activity was a first of its kind in the Valley where Motor Vehicle Inspector Manzoor Qureshi along with his team and a team of Kashmir Road Safety Foundation started this awareness about HSRP and more than 30 illegal number plates were removed on spot and receipts for the legal number plates were also given on spot by the department.
Chairman Kashmir Road Safety Foundation (KRSF), Nasir Ali Khan said that it’s been over 7 years since the law has passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court but till now it’s very unfortunate for the people of the Valley to be unaware about this. Khan said that we have started this campaign today with ARTO Board of Inspection Srinagar to create the much needed awareness we all need.
“The dept previously has issued many notices but the on ground awareness was not there and now with the collaboration of KRSF and ARTO Borad of Inspection we are very positive that together we will bring many positive changes on Kashmir roads,” he said, adding: “we are also starting a campaign for Women’s Harassment in Public Transport very soon and we believe if we work together for such cause then we can make our valley a liveable place.”
Manzoor Qureshi, Motor Vehicle Inspector MVI Dept said that the Motor Vehicle Act for HSRP is passed by the Supreme Court in 2012 and will be a standard in license plates throughout India. It’s a high security number plate that will form a uniform pattern of displaying your vehicles registration number throughout the country.
Qureshi said that HSRP helps in tracing the Vehicle in case it has met an accident anywhere and today with the Collaboration of Kashmir Road Safety Foundation we have started this awareness DRIVE and we hope that we get equal and positive support from all the entire Valley.
